![]() ![]() There are a lot more settings than are generally visible in the option probe command so it is better to use the settings editor to methodically work through the list of settings in the file, setting each one to it's correct value - this is what you may notice our support guys sometimes do when they remotely connect via Teamviewer.Īs I said, I just wanted to put this information out there as it is a common support issue - certainly in the UK. In the UK, our service guys usually create a folder on the C: drive called AUTOTUNE or occasionally HEXAGON DATASAVE / DEA DATASAVE. Navigate to the OctoPrint 'Terminal' tab and issue a PROBE command. Place a piece of blue painters tape (or similar) on the bed underneath the probe. There should be a copy of the correct settings in a pcdparams.txt file either stored on a USB stick inside your controller or stored locally on your PC. To calibrate the X and Y offset, navigate to the OctoPrint 'Control' tab, home the printer, and then use the OctoPrint jogging buttons to move the head to a position near the center of the bed. The settings are worked out by the factories prior to shipping the CMM's and sometimes modified by the service engineers when installing on site. This is because those settings differ depending upon the type of controller and sensor being used and they can fundamentally change the way the probe measures. In general, users should not be altering any of these parameters without prior training or advice from tech support with the exception of OFFSET FORCE, SCAN ACCELERATION and SCAN POINT DENSITY. The probe parameters can also cause the error as has already been noted by previous contributors to this post. This is why you get an "invalid reading of the measure point" error. If you haven't zeroed it correctly, you are going to get an inaccurate measurement - the same for the weight balance. The simplest analogy for the weight balance would be to think of it similar to zeroing your digital Vernier calliper prior to measurement. The leitz jogboxes use the CTRL+RESET buttons - (marked WB in blue), most hexagon / DEA jogboxes - for example the NJB - use the probe enable button (toggle off then back on). Depending on your make of CMM and type of jogbox the process will differ. In the case of probechangers or wrist indexes, the weight balance is carried out automatically by the software but if you have changed the probe manually (probe body or stylus) or had a collision you MUST perform a manual weight balance. These probes need to have performed a weight balance whenever they are first attached to the CMM (either manually or via an automated probe changer), whenever the wrist indexes to a new A/B angle and also after any collision that may have occurred.
